Wellness care is essential to keeping your pet healthy and active in all stages of their lives. At the Animal Hospital of Pataskala, we offer routine wellness exams, vaccinations, spay and neuter services, and dental cleanings.
During our wellness exams, your pet's veterinarian will give your dog or cat a full physical exam and order any routine laboratory tests. These tests will be tailored to each patient and your veterinarian will discuss the diagnostics that your pet may need with you. These tests can include blood count, urinalysis, blood chemistry, and parasite screening. Our veterinarians will also confirm that your pet is up to date on vaccinations. Some vaccines are due yearly, while other vaccines are due every three years.
Our wellness program is tailored to each pet, depending on the stage of his or her life.
Puppies are vaccinated every 3-4 weeks until they are 14-16 weeks old. Vaccines are started at 6-8 weeks. Some of the diseases we vaccinate puppies against are Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Bordetella, and Rabies. Your puppy may also need dewormed and will be placed on monthly heartworm preventative.
Kittens are vaccinated every 3-4 weeks until they are 14-16 weeks old. Vaccines are started at 6-8 weeks. Some of the diseases we vaccinate kittens against are Herpes, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia, Leukemia, and Rabies. Your kitten may also need dewormed and can be placed on monthly flea prevention.
Routine dental care is an important part of a wellness program for your pet. Over time bacteria builds up in your pet's mouth, eventually causing inflammation and gingivitis. During your pet's physical exam, we will check for plaque buildup. Based on our findings, we will provide suggestions to maintain the health of your pet's mouth.

Dr. Hickin by far has been the best veterinarian I've brought one of my pets to. She went out of her way on numerous occasions to help me with my elderly cat Jack. She listens and takes her time. You never feel rushed or a burden. It has been a long time since I've worked with a doctor that showed they cared this much about their patients. Thank you Dr. Hickin for everything.
